Oh how this makes my heart swell with love for the ribbon. (grin)

Hi,
You can also turn off protected view within word.
Alt-f, t, t, alt-t, p until you get to protected view and uncheck all options.

I use this same unblock method all the time and I can always tab to the Unblock
button and hit space bar to activate it. It's then when I lose focus. I happen
to route the mouse to the bottom right and then move back up by clip to the
Apply and OK buttons. But if you Alt-Tab away and back the dialog should have
focus again and you should be able to tab around.

Regards,
Tom

Hi Karen,

The most common reason for documents being in protected mode is that
they were downloaded from the internet.
Therefore, before opening them in Word, highlight them in the folder
to which they were downloaded, press the Applications key or
Shift-F10, and arrow to the Properties option, and press Enter.
In the Properties dialog which opens, you'll have to route your mouse
pointer to the bottom left of this dialog, and then move the pointer
up until you find a button labelled Unblock, and then left-click this button.
Finally, move your mouse pointer down to the button labelled Ok, and
left-click that button.
All of this mouse pointer navigation is due to the fact that the
buttons are not focusable in the normal way if you follow the steps I've given
above.
At any rate, once you perform the left-click of the Ok button, you'll
be back in the folder where you were before, and then you can go ahead
and open the Word document, and, probably, you'll find that the
document is no longer protected.

Hth,

Rod

Can someone please tell me how to take a Word document out of
protected view? Using Word 10, and Windows 7.

Thanks.
