And I broke the JAWS lock on the Massachusetts commission for the blind when I revealed to them how they were being scammed by their so called "technical advisor" who was telling them that everyone they got Open Book for needed JAWS to use that self-voicing program; even if they already had Window-Eyes.
The head of technology was livid when he figured out what I said was true.
This ever so admirable practice is how they got to where they are today. Their customer support is renowned for being horrible and Window-Eyes scripting is a walk in the park, not to mention much more powerful, than the cryptic concoction FS cooked up so their customers would have to pay 1200 dollars to learn how to script using an incredibly chaotic mess.
As the old adage goes: nice guys finish last.
But this is contemporary business. forget about quality. Just destroy your competition.

Yep, so right. When I lived in Las Vegas and was a client and then for
short time worked for services for the blind there, all they pushed and
knew was jaws, jaws. They were wined and dined by freedom, and worked
with cross roads, part of easter seals. Cross roads made big bucks
pushing jaws and doing scripting and so forth. In those days,
window-eyes did their magic with set files which the end user could
easily modify. Most of jaws stuff required special scripting which the
state was happy to pay for. A big cash cow.

Hello Tony and Varonica. Tony, I have to agree with you that
Window-Eyes,
for a long time has worked with many programs that JAWS never even could
work with. The only real reason why JAWS is still the leading screen
reader
is because Voc Rehab never gave clients choices as to which screen reader
they wanted. Due to this, Window-Eyes and other screen readers such as
System Access couldn't climb the ladder because Voc rehab like CNIB,
RNIB,
American blind organisations all had a power grip on JAWS.

I wonder the same thing. WE has worked with more programs out of the box
than Jaws. I switched to WE iin 2004 because a friend and myself were
hosting a website and I could not edit half of it using Jaws, WE did
it all.

I switched and have been a faitful WE used ever since.

So for months now you all have been whining that Window eyes is dead,
whining that it is going away and whining that it has problems. So
what I
want to know is JAWS god's gift to man kind? Are they so perfect that
nothing ever goes wrong and if that is true why are there so many of us
still using Window Eyes.
And even more than that, if they, JAWS is so great, why is it I got
Window
eyes in the first place? I know when I invested in WE, it was the
greatest.
I'm just saying! V
