Sorry to only just clarify now.
There are emails retained on my server but the phone was not
displaying them
to either me or a sighted person.
Now I have tried to re-enter the emails through messaging rather than
the
email wizard, Talks is announcing a login failure. So that makes
sense at
least as to why I could not see emails before. It is strange that the
email
wizard announced success before though, and I was able to navigate
between
folders on the server , even though no emails were detected.
Now I cannot get in at all.
Checking through settings the email wizard at least has entered the
correct
pop3 and smtp settings automatically. It may be though that security
authentification settings are incorrect.
It seems odd that if the email wizard is clever enough to
automatically
insert correct pop3 and SMTP settings simply from my email address
that it
has not completed the job though.
I will persevere with the suggestions made. A frustration at the
moment, is
that amendments I make to email settings appear to disappear after an
unsuccessful login attempt. So I have to restart typing in
information...
I am now working through the settings checking login, password etc
though
again the email wizard appeared to accept these to begin with.

David Griffith

Oh. I thought he said that he and his daughter both looked at the
phone and
there were no emails on it.

As I understood it, he did get them on the phone, it was just that
Talks was
not telling him what was there.
That is an important point David that you should be aware of. If the
e-mails are on your phone, you go to your PC and download them as soon
as
you reconnect your phone to the server they are gone like a flash.

Also, if your PC pulled the email down, then they won't be around for
the
phone to grab.

Well to start out! You will ntot find a Check Mail option in Talks
being
the
Mail client isn't part of Talks. The mail program is part of the
phone.
<smile>
You'll probably need to check your SLS/PLS setting to maybe turn them
on/off
for the Mail client. If this is set incorrectly! The Nokia EMail
client
will
not be able to retrieve the EMail.

Subject: [Talks] BT yahoo email.
I have posted this question on a general blind computing list butt
have
had
no response. I wonder if the Talks community have a suggestion.
I have just tried to set up my BT Yahoo email account on my Nokia
N86.
I am connection through my wireless network at home.
The Nokia reports that the setup was successful but when I arrived
at the
Bt
yahoo inbox on the phone the mailbox was empty. I had to get my
daughter
to
confirm this as Talks did not announce this.
This was not true as the mailbox actually has 21 items in it which I
have
just downloaded to my Pc.
I also tried to send a test email from my phone to my own inbox.
This
was
reported as being sent by Talks but has not been received by BT
Yahoo.
I have pop3 enabled on BT yahoo.
Pressing the option key under Talks only gives the option to
disconnect
or
create or
send mail.
I have not found a check mail button on talks yet..
The BT yahoo pages assume you will contacting via a dial up number
rather
than using a wireless network so it is difficult to tell what
settings
are
not working. The phone appears to get into my mail account properly
with
the
right password but does not seem to be able to detect any of the
content
in
the mail boxes..
Any suggestions?
Many thanks
Regards
