Yes you can do many things with the slider closed on the N86, N95* models
and others that have a slider. You can check EMail, read text messages, read
RSS feeds, read web pages from top to bottom, Use LoadStone-GPS and many
other things. As long as you do not need to use the keypad when the slider
is closed you can use some functions of the software. Yes you can even go in
and change Talks settings with the slider closed.
The reason you can not find the N86 in stores! For the most part it has been
discontinued as far as production. So wants places run out of there stock,
it will not be replaced.

do you mean you can still text messages and browse the web with the
slider closed Dave? Sorry for my ignorance. Frankly im quite
interested in the phone but havent really had a chance to see one. Its
not available at our local store.
