How does your playing (Monroe style) go over in a jam type atmosphere. It seems that the places I in-frequent have a lot of players that play a lot of notes and flashy at that. Damn them..... and my style of playing which is heavily influenced by big mon/tater is almost frowned upon.
The last time I visited a local jam, I played attempted to play more “notes” and there was much more reaction or at least that was my feeling. But, I don’t hear all those notes in a song and second it takes a lot of work to get all the notes in. The people who play in that style seem to have a gazillion licks but don’t hover around the melody, and what I hear IS the melody. So when I play what I hear, it probably is a lot simpler and less flashy. Is Monroe style of playing seen as simplistic or rudimentary, cause I’m here to tell ya it aint! Or is it not recognized in today’s modern world? Or.......... do I just suck.............! Don't answer that..! per-tater --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Taterbugmando" group.
