Yessir,
I hear the subdivision too and am often surprised by what I find,
especially after so many years of carrying around my own preconceived
(unresearched) notions. In Monroe's case, I hear it mixed with
triplets, definite groups of "3's". Seems like there's an awful lot of
"3's" in Bill's music. I've wondered a lot about why that is. Anyway,
seems at first glance to be randomness turns out to be laid out in
orderly fashion.

For me, playing a pattern or a rhythmic "beat" in the tremolo helps me
get through it evenly, sort of like giving myself a script to follow.
