I play in a monthly old time jam here in Salem and find that my home made Army
Navy kit mando, my Flat Iron
Army Navy or even my banjolin are more welcome than my Bush, so I always leave
it at home. I always stay as
close to the tune as I can and try not to let any of my two hot-licks leak in.
For back-up I try to play the lowest inversions
of the chords that my feeble little brain can find in a sort of lopping shuffle
with some slides and leave the strings ringing a little and not too loud as I
don't want to get the hairy eyeball. I'm sensitive. I'm finding that I like old
time better all the time as I have a little trouble with speed, I don't have
any, and dance speed seems to suit me just fine.
