I suggest we talk to Mat and Nick to clearly see the pros and cons...They are just a 'stair' away.

I think there are some licensing issues in distributing Java - if we say Taverna is LGPL and here is Java as well, then we would have to also provide the source code for Java, which we don't have control over, and which is not LGPL. Two Windows downloads to choose between would also mean that the user would have to decide if he has Java or not - and he might have - but in an older version - so I still don't think that's a good solution. It's is probably better to try things like Launch4j and getting a proper .exe to launch Taverna (which it generates) -- Stian Soiland-Reyes, myGrid team School of Computer Science The University of Manchester ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Crystal Reports - New Free Runtime and 30 Day Trial Check out the new simplified licensing option that enables unlimited royalty-free distribution of the report engine for externally facing server and web deployment. http://p.sf.net/sfu/businessobjects _______________________________________________ taverna-hackers mailing list [email protected] Web site: http://www.taverna.org.uk Mailing lists: http://www.taverna.org.uk/taverna-mailing-lists/ Developers Guide: http://www.mygrid.org.uk/tools/developer-information ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Crystal Reports - New Free Runtime and 30 Day Trial Check out the new simplified licensing option that enables unlimited royalty-free distribution of the report engine for externally facing server and web deployment. http://p.sf.net/sfu/businessobjects _______________________________________________ taverna-hackers mailing list [email protected] Web site: http://www.taverna.org.uk Mailing lists: http://www.taverna.org.uk/taverna-mailing-lists/ Developers Guide: http://www.mygrid.org.uk/tools/developer-information
