Just for reference. I checked Thunderbird behaviour. File names for both e-mail clients are as follows: TB: CCL_2011-253-71450_FELFRTM00019002_FREDERIK 07-05-2011.PDF TB!: 2011.PDF As you can see, TB automatically converts unallowed characters (and user is shown a name to be saved so he can still modify it) but what's more important it's not dumping any important information of your clients as TB! does.
