You should not have a .(dot) before your main INBOX in any case, as INBOX is treated as special (if your IMAP server is using for your DEPOT = Maildir++ )
Told you I was new to IMAP! I meant to type "INBOX." and forgot where the period went (very embarrassing)....
No, not embarrassing at all... Please don't think that way.. <g> How about a typo ? <g>
IMAP server, you can either leave it blank, or put in INBOX, or try INBOX/ and you can also try INBOX. also... some IMAP servers seem to recognize . better than /
Well, I deleted the account and created a new one. I tried leaving the box empty; I tried "INBOX", "INBOX/", AND "INBOX." Still no luck 8-(. Thanks to both you and Jonathan for the suggestions; I was hopeful for a while.
Sorry about the bad luck here.. I was able to start IMAP accounts on my own IMAP servers with TB! without having to specify INBOX at all, as Jonathan originally mentioned, but I did try it out, using INBOX too, and it worked as well.
Am I the only one using MailSnare? If there are any other successful MailSnare users here, please let me know what settings you're using!
I checked MailSnare's site, and they support both regular IMAP and IMAPS (with SSL), so this is good.
Some other thoughts..
1. Did you check your TB! logs, to see if you were able to actually log on, using the correct settings and server address, e.g. mail.mailsnare.net, or imap.mailsnare.net.. whatever it is... Sorry, about the basic stuff here, but we have to rule this out..
2. Since mailsnare is a paid service, you could simply email their tech support and ask what the settings are, more specifically, how is the hierarchy established, from an INBOX, and all other dirs/mailboxes under that, or all separate dirs/mailboxes under your "home dir", etc... they can explain that to you... how to properly set this up. They can also tell you what is the name of the IMAP server they are using..
