Like Michael and Bernd, I wasn't able to find these, either. I had a little trouble tracking down some of the others, as well, since some are out of sequence.
I might be too late, since five people have already posted their settings using the same format, but might I request that posters organize their settings in menu order--something like the following? (Am I correct in assuming that "[X] Local Outbox" means "[ ] Outbox:"?)
Account | Properties | Mail management
[ ] Outbox:
Automatically connect to the server:
At startup [X]
When account is selected [X]
For managing folders [ ]
By any command [ ]
[ ] When inactive, disconnect after [ ] secondsAccount | Properties | Mail management | Deletion
[X] Compress emptied folders automatically
Account | Properties | Mail management | IMAP Fine-Tune
[X] Retrieve message structures together with message headers
[ ] Compress folders when switching to another folder
[ ] Automatically disconnect after synchronisation
[X] When on-line, refresh folders every [1] minutes
[X] Courier IMAP compatibility mode
[ ] Auto-filteringAccount | Properties | Options
[X] Check mailbox at start-up
[X] Periodical checking each [5] minutes???
[ ] When browsing messages, retrieve only message text
[ ] except messages smaller than [ ] K Bytes
[ ] Use precise counters (needs fast connection)I find it interesting that there is such variation in settings, at least with the first three posts. (I haven't had a chance to
compare the other two yet.) Of course, all three of you are using
different server varieties, but still.... Maybe the conclusion to
draw from all of this is that we each need to experiment with
these settings ourselves, especially if we're connecting to a
server different from the posted ones.
Can someone explain to me the meanings of the following settings?
1. Automatically connect to server:
For managing folders [ ]
With any command [ ]2. [X] Retrieve message structures together with message headers
3. [ ] When browsing messages, retrieve only message text
4. [ ] Use precise counters (needs fast connection)
Thanks for all your contributions. This is turning into a really good education for me, and I'm sure for other subscribers as well.
