If common sense is the rule, one could argue it is not common sense to delete a folder where you are sending mail. What it does now is predictable, logical and what I would expect to happen, want to happen. If I was paying any attention to the fact these messages were not getting filtered, then I would investigate, discover that I either had a folder missing and restore it, or a filter which I had erroneously set up and delete or change it.
