Hello Frank Farance,

One doesnt learn a program in an hour and while the Bat's
docucmentation could be improved a lot and while there are bugs, most
of these things can be found relatively easy by either looking at the
various menus or by asking someone to help you setup the program...

Frank> How do I edit the "new message template"? ...
Frank> there isn't any information in the Help file.
Frank> Try searching for "edit".
One shouldnt, search for template. Or better, OPEN one.

Frank> The "received" time is wrong, it should be the time my POP
Frank> server receives the E-mail, not the time of the download from POP.
Not really, it should be the time you get the message but then thats
probably a matter of opinion.
Whats the use if it sits maybe a week on your server and you download
it and it gets the date it arived??

Frank> How do I look at all the headers?
Frank> There is no way to do this, according to the Help.
Look under view , kludges

Frank> How do I turn off the animation of the bat in the task bar?
By reading all your mail(g)
Donot worry, it doesnt cost any significant processing power.

Frank> When I move the cursor in down a line:

Frank> V
Frank> line 1: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx sssPss xxxxxxx
Frank> @ !
Frank> line 3: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx sssQss xxxxxxx
Frank> ^

Frank> The cursor is at P and I hit down-arrow to line 2
Frank> (which has no characters, just a newline) and the cursor should be at "@",
Frank> but is actually at "!". In other words, the cursor motion doesn't
Frank> work like all other text fields in Windows products.
Depends on what products you use. This works exactly the way I like a
screen/texteditor to work, not a wordprocessor with end of line characters
and stuff like that. A NEWLINE is a FULL empty line on the screen.

Frank> Attachments of duplicate names get created as "abcdef.ext" ==> "abcdef.ext.1".
Frank> This causes Win9x *not* to recognize the file type and
Frank> I have to manually rename my attachments.
In my case they are cat.jpg, cat1.jpg etc. Number before the dot. So,
no problem...

Frank> I can't turn off sending my initials in replies, i.e., "FF> "
Frank> should be "> " ... I've set "none" in the Reply dialog,
Frank> but this doesn't work.
No idea, I thought it used to work.

Frank> When I copy an past text from another document,
Frank> say a paragraph from MS-Word, I want to have the text
Frank> automatically wrapped *for display*
Frank> (not actually wrapped with embedded newlines) ... how
Frank> do I set this? Autowrapping doesn't work ...
Frank> and I don't want to manually wrap the lines because I
Frank> want to E-mail receiver to have the same paragraph breaks.
If I understand it correctly you like the receiver to see it like your
word document.
Well, that probably means an attachment...

Frank> Why doesn't CTRL-R reply for messages, like Eudora? How do I customize this?
Seems to work on my machine...

Frank> Overall, there is only one feature of "the bat"
Frank> that is significantly better than Eudora light:
Frank> automatic recognition of embedded UUENCODED files.
Frank> Otherwise, there are too many problems
Frank> (unless you all have fixes to the above list ...
Frank> all discovered in an hour's worth of use ... what other bugs are waiting?).
well, I have used Eudora Pro and it slowed down my system, ran out of
memory.
Its like every program, and emailers/wordprocessor/editors are good
examples of that, you need to learn how to use them.
There is a list with keystrokes which no doubt will come your way and
there is a faq.

Other wuestions I leave for someone else to answer...

Best regards,

tracer
