 I'm not really sure since I don't use it myself, but if you are
 receiving lots of mail everyday, it might be useful to check high
 priority messages first.  Of course that means you depend on the
 sender to categorize it correctly, which almost always fails.

 Not everyone reads every message that comes into their mailbox.
 Plus the high priority flag suggests that you read the message *now*
 and not later.  Again you might go online just to download your
 messages so you can read them later, but this flag might make you
 stop and read the message now.  Again, I don't use this feature,
 that's what filtering is for.
