Yeah, I don't know why this technique isn't much widespread.

VPOP3 is a SMTP MTA (Mail Transfer Agent). On Unix you would have
sendmail, for example.
Another freeware SMTP server for the windows platform that I'd recommend for I'm
using it succesfully is argosoft.
