        This is a known issue with TB! and a desire for this to be
changed has been voiced on quite a few previous occasions. Let's hope
that version 2 allows the message list date display configurable.

        Any folder for which you enable this option will change to the
current default column setting. If you then make changes to the same
folders columns, these changes will /now/ become the new default column
settings and any other folder with the default column settings option
enabled will adopt the new settings.

        The default column settings are therefore user definable.
