Hi Ming-Li,

On 03 July 2000 at 02:16:12 GMT -0700 (which was 10:16 where I
live) [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote and made these points on the subject
of "Tell me your experience with mono-spaced fonts":

There's more to it than that. There are other issues about the fact
that email is plain text and that, as you say, exact positioning can
only be achieved with mono fonts.

This pays dividends for producing formatted text and working with
indents and columns while still retaining the plain text aspects of
standard email.

Also there are repercussions on the centre, right aligned and
justified paragraph formats when using proportional fonts.

Having said that, there is a work-around if you *really* have to use
proportional fonts as follows:

(posted previously by Alexander V. Kisilev)

For if you _absolutely_ need variable- width font ..., you
can go and manually edit your registry, in particular, these
    sections of it:

    HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Editor\Font
    HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\RIT\The Bat!\Rich Text

If you manually edit there the name of the font to be used,
The Bat! will obey... But be advised, that if, for example,
you write there "Arial", you'll hardly manage to read
    anything:-)
