Along with beefing up the ticker, the memo field really needs some
work, I agree. I've played around with it and finally stopped using
it because the @$# window either wouldn't stay where I wanted it to or
because it was too difficult to "flag" a message that had a memo using
the current memo column implementation without eating up a lot of
screen space.
I actually like your first idea of the auto-appearing memo window ...
I wish that little address book window would do the same, rather than
always on/always off ... perhaps with a checkbox for the address book
entries to "display window when message from XXX is in focus," so that
it wouldn't be around all the time. There are only certain folks for
whom I'd like their picture to pop up. <G>
