Hello Gary,

I heard about The Bat! from Gary B. Smith (Australia), a member of
MDaemon Open Forum discussion, but I didn't take any attention at that
time.
I came from Lotus cc:mail user, then switch to MDaemon SMTP/POP user and
use "Inbox" (exchange client). Since the beginning all user here put the
mailbox on Netware Server, because all station are diskless.
When my daily message traffic going high, I switch to Outlook97, but the
message traffic growing, so I have to switch to Outlook Express (I need
local disk for OE).
I keep looking mail client that meet criteria :
- Can keep the mailbox, address book on network drive, so I don't care
about Workstation problem, only focus to maintain the server.
With this, I will have some advantage :
* I can run mailer from anywhere in LAN node.
* I can share Address Book
* I can use Net O/S security to protect my message.
* I can use Server's backup facility.
- Support multi account.
- Have intensive filtering and folder management.
- I can read any message that send from any mailer, but will *never*
send message that can't be read by any mailer (whatever
mailer/platform the recipient use).
I have try Pegasus for a while, but I got some problem :
- The security for multi account not meet my criteria.
- Can't read some message sending by our Inbox user.
- Some of my customer (who use Eudora Light) having problem to read my
message.
I was trying Becky, I like it, the Filter so simple and functionality
OK, the lack are :
- I can't put the mailbox and address book on network drive.
- Some message I receive is blank (only a few).
- Till I saw someone use "Unique Mailer" on MDaemon Beta List.
I don't know the name who use it, because his signature can't be read by
my mailer (I think he use Russian Character), just at@.... (can't
remember). But the way he use not so impressive me.
Till I saw Marck D. Perlstone use it (on the same List), and (you know)
he has a "style" :-)
So I download it, and try to install.
Honestly, I have problem to decide which one of the two will be my
choice. The learning curve of Becky much short than The Bat!, so I
decide to follow the List from them.
>From the list I know that The Bat! developer/programmer monitor the
list, and "hear" what the user saying, much more than Becky developer
did. This is one plus point for me (MDaemon developer also "hear" their
user, he chip in much more on the MDaemon list, this is one reason I
choose MDaemon as primary MailServer).
Even The Bat! developer not much told to the list as MDaemon developer
did, but they developed very fast, if in MDaemon we can expect 1 beta
version every 3-7 days, on The Bat! we can expect the new beta version
every 1-3 days. There are some days that 3 version comes up in 1-day
(crazy!), so I missed one or two version :-)
Well, at the end you know what I choose, and I never regret it.
