I don't think a true backup routine cold be done automatically by TB!
Copying a file to another dir on your hd is not backing up it's just a
false sense of security. Backing up is copying your important data to
three different tapes/cd's/zips and storing them off site in three
different locations. Although copying files to a different dir will
prevent against small amounts of corruption it is not a worthwhile
thing.

As far as i can see the best backup routine is to have TB! ftp your
files to a ftp server automatically for you.
