Yes. Do you manually move the messages to the folder or do you use a
filter?

Yes. If the recipient address for the reply is in your address book
and an address book template is associated, the address book template
will override your folder template.

Why not use the quick template as an auto-reply template?

If you manually move the messages to this special folder, you could
create a manual filter that moves the message and at the same time,
generates an auto-reply message in the process. The auto-reply uses
its own template as you may know and the quick template could be used
there.
