If you use the Ticker Virtual folder where all unread messages across all
folders are together, then colour groups can be extremely helpful. I
assign different colours to messages from discussion lists as opposed to
messages from particular individuals as opposed to messages from
miscellaneous sources. I can easily pick up messages from particular
individuals in a long list of messages from many folders and read those
first. When any message is read, it reverts to it's usual black status.
