(Smart tabs are not hard tabs)
Smart Tabs are for lists of things.
There is an example
type a line of text, and then go to the next line with out auto format on
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 etc
Where you see the numbers is where the smart tabs took my cursor

This is a problem with Hard tabs.

Yes there is a difference. No I don't have the knowledge to explain it
properly. So I will let some one else explain that. What I do know is that
TB! uses spaces other email clients use the tab character
