A friend of mine called to let me know that he upgraded to 1.52f and is not
experiencing the same behavior. I had assumed that this was just something new
with 1.52f on purpose, now it appears not.

I am running Windows 98 Second Edition (4.10.2222 A) on an AMD Athlon 700MHz
with 256MB. I shut down every other program on the system after a fresh reboot
so that only Explorer, Systray, and The Bat! were running. The behavior is
still the same. All other programs work normally.

Monday I will switch back to 1.46d if nobody has any ideas.

Thanks!

P> TBUDL -

P> I just upgraded from 1.46d to 1.52f, and I am about to go crazy! I will soon
P> be switch back to 1.46d unless someone can tell me that this new behavior can
P> be stopped!

P> Previously, when composing a message, TB! worked much like any other windows
P> program. I could hold down the shift key and use my arrow keys to extend a
P> selection. Once I had a selection, I could type, which would overwrite the
P> selected text, or hit backspace or delete, which would delete the selected
P> text, or paste in new text, which would also replace the selected text. If I
P> moved the text cursor at all, the selection was canceled.

P> Now, after the upgrade, everything is changed, and *not* for the better. I can
P> still use shift to select text, but now when I type new text, the text is
P> simply typed in at the current cursor position, and the selected text remains
P> selected. If I change my mind and move the text cursor, the selected text
P> remains selected. If I hit backspace or delete, the character immediately to
P> the left or right of the text cursor is removed, but the selected text remains
P> selected. If I paste in text, it is pasted in at the current text cursor
P> position, but the selected text remains, and remains selected. If I type, my
P> text is added to the message, and if the text cursor is within or at the end
P> of the selected text, my newly typed text is *also* selected.

P> It seems that the keyboard shortcut is no longer a shortcut, because now after
P> selecting text, I must hit Ctrl-X to accomplish what used to happen
P> automatically.

P> Is this configurable, or just a bug?
