For freeware, there's Mercury from the makers of Pegasus. I have used
MDaemon for years and it works well but is (these days) a bit pricey.
You can also look at the various freeware and shareware sites on the
web to find alternative options. See e.g. http://www.nonags.com.

I don't know that this is relevant. The "level" of SMTP is usually
about incoming SMTP mail, which will *not* apply to you because you're
only looking to run your own outbound SMTP service.
