I'm not sure about the particular quirk you mentioned, as I don't
experience that problem, but I'll tell you what doesn't make any sense
to me...

Starting a completely new subject in apparent reply to a totally
unrelated message.

For mail lists like this one, many of us thread by references. It's
quite possible that if someone was not interested in reading about
importing Eudora messages, your message about a possible editor quirk
would be ignored. I'm not particularly interested in Eudora issues, so
it was just by chance that I happened to stumble upon your message.
