The problem with a "personal firewall" is that the security it can offer is rather limited (or "almost 0"). These kind of programs make a user believe that (s)he has installed a "really effective" program to protect his/her system from the "bad internet". So, ZA, Tiny, Norton or any other product in the personal firewall category only fill the users with a false sense of security which this software can't offer. That feature seems as secure as ZoneAlarm to me. :-) And if you don't want anyone from the internet to connect to a service on your computer, then don't run the service. It's that simple. And that leaves no reason to have a personal firewall installed on your box. Apart from that, ZA _can_ cause trouble. That's my personal experience with that software on various systems of friends, and all problems could easily be solved by ZoneAlarm'S uninstall routine. But that is just MHO *and* it's OT: f'up2poster. -- Regards, Lars The Bat! 1.60j on Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600 ____________________________________________________________ | Lars Geiger | <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | ________________________________________________________ Current Ver: 1.60i FAQ : http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com
