It should recognize it.

Place the cursor in the window and hit <enter> again or just hit the
reload button.

On my system here, for some reason, if I launch the link from TB!, IE
initially doesn't load it as an image file and simply offers the file
for download. I have to hit the cancel button and then reload button
to get it to load.

However, if I hit the link from within a webpage (my webspace
filemanager), the image loads. <shrug>
