There's no problem with the period as _additional_ space keeper.
Albeit I don't understand why so many people want to have empty lines
between their signature and the PGP signature, there's no problem if you
add the period(s) after your signature delimiter.

When replying _everything_ below the signature delimiter (and because of a
somehow intelligent written reply-template even with PGP escaped
delimiters) will be cut off. The period(s) too :-)
