I'd rather have the context easily conveyed to me, rather than open
other messages to 'research' the context. In the case of newsgroups,
if you wish to read the original message, then just click on the
relevant header (headers are always downloaded for this purpose) and
the original message will be downloaded for you.

In-line replying reduces the frequency of having to 'research' context
and this applies in both situations.

I still don't see the difference.
