Surely you mean:

  B. You're probably right, it can't be because of that.
A: Oh! It can't be because of that!
  B: Because I never argue.
A: Why are you so fat?

After all, that's how you say you prefer to read conversations!
Answer above question.

This topic isn't a matter of my preference versus your preference. It
is a rule to do things conversationally here not just because I prefer
it but because it is actually *right* in every way.

Every argument you give in favour of top posting clearly underlines
how much more cumbersome that preference is.

In-line answers give a once through, top down read. Simple,
straightforward, top to bottom and done. All context filled, points
raised taken and dealt with unambiguously and in order.

Top posted replies mean you read the reply, scroll down, read the
context, scroll back read the answer again now that you know what it's
about. In the case where many points are being answer so you have to
repeat the scrolling up and down process for each point. In what
universe will that *ever* be easier? There's no logic in it at all.
The direction is wrong. The theory is wrong. The layout is wrong. The
sense is wrong. It's a just plain "wrong" thing for anyone to have got
themselves used to! To be honest I feel quite sorry for those that
find it "better". It's like losing the art of conversation in favour
of speech making (like I am here <g>).

The only "right" thing about it is that it is the haven of the lazy.
Hit reply and type. What could be easier? Easy is not right though.

Zero context replies where you have to refer back up the thread are
probably worse than top posted replies, but not by much. At least you
can open the thread in an alternate folder view with TB and see both
the reply and original message at once (with enough screen real estate
- - which my laptop doesn't actually provide).

I know I'm not going to persuade you that you're wrong (even though
your own arguments show that you actually know it at some level), but
I do seek to persuade anyone sat on the fence that in-line posting is
what makes sense and what works universally. If I can convince someone
else then my work here is done :-).

Having said that - I'm soon going to have to slay this horse. Perhaps
I deserve a trouting for ranting so much here. It had to be said
though. Shall we continue (if there is a need) on TBOT?
