OK. So you're trying to send a mail through the SMTP server of your new
ISP, correct?
Nevertheless: as '@btconnect.com' is accepted (and I assume TBConnect is
your new ISP) it seems the mail server simply refuses to 'relay' outside
his domain, unless you're authenticated and therefore allowed to relay
using this server.
So did your new ISP tell you anything about 'POP-before-SMTP' or
'SMTP-Auth'??? If not: is there any help section for customers on his web
site describing how to setup mail clients? If so: follow this guides, if
not:
I'm assuming you're able to _FETCH_ your mail with The Bat! (means:
connecting w/o any error message, even if no message is in your mailbox).
Try setting up the account to use SMTP-Auth:
'Account' / 'Properties' / 'Transport' / 'Send mail' -> button:
'Authentication'
Activate 'Use "POP before SMTP" authentication' and give the send to your
Compuserve-Address another try.
If it still fails:
Deactivate 'Use "POP before SMTP" authentication', activate 'Perform SMTP
Authentication (RFC 2554)' and 'Use settings of Mail Retrieval' and test
again.
If you still fail send a mail to your ISPs customer support, requesting how
to set up your mail client to be able to send mail to external addresses.
They should be able to tell you.
