No, sorry for the confusion.

I have TB and both OE installed on my Win2000 computer and that is attached
to the broadband system with "btconnect" as the ISP.

On a completely separate, independent, computer I have a modem and
"compuserve" is the ISP. I have been trying to test the setup by sending
messages from btconnect to compuserve.

Back to the broadband system - I am able to fetch e-mail using either OE or
TB but can only send e-mail using OE.

I have just tried settting up TB with "POP before SMTP" but this still gave
the same error.

When I tried using "Perform SMTP Authentication" I got a warning "There were
no compatible authenrication mechansims detected" then the send message
failed with the same error.

I've checked the btconnect website for setup information but can't find
anything and they only give support to e-mail problems with OE so they're
not interested in problems with TB.
