One should think so, but with ZoneAlarm, I wouldn't be too sure about
that. IIRC, there was a case were a slowness like the one originally
described *was* caused by ZoneAlarm.

Only disabling ZA doesn't help, if ZA is going loose, only uninstalling
can cure a system, disabling ZA will do nothing.

Well, I had the same position like you over a year ago. Maybe ZoneAlarm
works for you. But there are countless examples where ZoneAlarm caused
nothing but trouble.

Apart from that, a personal firewall is useless from a security POV
(this is my personal opinion and anyone who wants to start a discussion
about that, please feel free to contact me in PM).
