That's what I do, and it works like a charm, eliminating nearly all spam from my inbox. However, it also eliminates any other mail on which I'm BCC'd, so I have them stay marked as "unread" in my trash folder and check them before I mark them read. There's probably an elegant little work-around, but this seems to do the trick for me.
