FYI:I'm having that problem now. I make sure it deletes trash on closing, but it hangs when I get new mail, on the 2nd or 3rd mail.
For those of you who were following the thread that I started re: TB hanging while getting new mail, here's an update: The problem has completely gone away in the last three weeks since I stopped keeping mail on the server.
