And I believe that to do the need for this work-around shows that it
could be improved in the program itself.

I agree.  I further agree with Stefan that if messages have been
deleted from the server then there is no need to keep their UIDLs, so
the proper method would be to delete them *only* if the session was
not interrupted and messages were in fact deleted properly.
