Yes, I agree.

It is the user's responsibility if he edits the mail, and of course an
edited amil will not hold up in court. My private or ML mails are not
likely to be used in court and if in doubt, I can still choose to not
edit them. In fact, there are only very few mails that I would want to
edit.
