Hi Everyone,

I have just switched my Gmail setup from POP to IMAP, since I wish to
access my mail from both Windows and Ubuntu Linux and spend time in
both operating systems, depending upon my tasks. I have some
questions about setting up IMAP in TB. I have used TB for my POP
mailer for Gmail for several years.

When I first switched to IMAP (while leaving Gmail's POP setup
"alive" as well), I used Evolution while in Linux. I noticed that when
a new mail arrived in the inbox, I received a notice AND when I
selected the new mail(s) in the inbox, the text would appear almost
immediately when the message(s) was selected.

I then installed Evolution for Windows, and it operates the same way.
However, since I still like TB better in some ways, my next step was to set
up my Gmail IMAP account in TB for a trial.

I have liked Gmail for IMAP (erroneous counts aside, since I do
receive all new mail fine). However, when a new mail(s) appears in
the inbox, if I select it right away, the text is often not there in
the preview pane, and I have to take time to do a folder
synchronization. Is there a way to have TB synchonize THAT MESSAGE
the moment I select it? I believe that is how Evolution is set by
default.

In short, so far I think Evolution is easier to set up for IMAP, and
the best settings seem to be built in as default. In TB, the settings
require more fine-tuning, and I am asking this list if there is a setting
in TB that will allow me to read new incoming messages when I first
select them?

FYI, right now, I have synchronizing set at "message headers and text"
for all folders (except for All Mail and for Trash) in TB.

A second question - if my synchronizing is set at "message headers and
text," will it also at least alert me that there is an attachment, so
I will know to then do a full synchronization for that message?

Thank you for any help, folks.
