I guess I would have liked to know how versatile tech writing can be. I took a tech writing course in college to fulfill a requirement for a journalism minor, but I had no idea what tech writing could apply to before I took the class. I figured it was strictly writing for scientific things that I had no interest in. I didn't realize that creativity and resourcefulness were so useful to have in this field, and that tech writing was so transferable across so many industries.
