I got my job BECAUSE of a buyout. Our little biotech was purchased by Merck. Soon after the buyout, Merck sent a group of auditors to check our compliance with several sets of regulations, including 21 CFR Part 11, which deals with database security. Since our software had no software development life cycle documents, they had to hire someone. They didn't even know what skills were needed, until they interviewed me. I told them what skills were required to do the job, and they hired me.
