Yeah, I get that Bill, the only problem I'll run up against is the fact that
for most UK orgs, meetings take place in London. That's a few hundred miles
from me and means a day, or two, out of my time. Not ideal.

Of course that probably means I should start a more local chapter myself...

Out of the box, from the STC you get magazines and e-mail. It's up to you to
get your butt to meetings and events and to actively network.
No one's going to do that for you. Basically, if you join any society, all
you get is the stuff they push out. For real benefit, you need to get out
there and get active. I can't tell you how wonderful networking with other
professionals out there has been. Not only do I have a lot of professional
contacts, but I've made a lot of excellent close friendships as well. I've
not been disappointed.
