No Zenworks. A pretty simple network setup. One OU and since the buildings
are connected by a fiber optic they are in effect one LAN (Just a switch and
a fiber optic connecting them). Not even a router in the system other than
the ICN router for the internet. Just 2 Novell 10 servers with all the
users in one tree, one OU etc. We have been using IPCop for a long time,
and are in the process of going to LightSpeed. (Not sure if that has any
effect on it.) I also now have a 3rd party vendor working on my network to
do the LightSpeed install so he may have changed something he forgot to
mention.
I think I will but the bullet and do the iPrint update on my HS server and
see if that starts the issue at the high school. ALL the users might as
well be mad at me.
Thanks in advance!

This is with Zenworks right? Is it another windows username box or a
Zenworks box? Do you have a DLU policy set?

Subject: [tech-geeks] Novell 10 - s econd login problem
Ok Novell gurus
I recently went to Novell 10 and things seemed to be going pretty well.
Two
weeks ago I started getting calls from my Grade school staff saying that
some systems are popping up a "second Novell login box" and they were
wanting to know why. When I fianlly saw one of these boxes it looks like
the box one gets when a connection has been severed from the network and
then re-established. It is a login box from the Novell client with the
user
name "system" in the user box. I have told my people to re-enter THEIR
user
name and password and go on. It seems to be working for the most part.
Now - I have 2 new servers and I am only seeing this on the grade school
server. Also I have some windows 98 boxes on that server that have never
seen this second popup box and some XP boxes in the lab that have not see
it
either.
The only difference I can see is that the grade school server had a few
updates installed that the high school server did not. The grade school
server updated the iPrint client, and that is what I suspect is at the
heart
of the issue. The gradeschool boxes are getting popups saying there is a
new version of the iPrint client available and the computers that are not
getting that second login box have not seen the "new iPrint client" popup
as
far as I know.
I have played with uninstalling NMAS (Since we do not use it) and some
settings, but still no clear cut solution. Some of the things I have
tried
seemed to slow it down, but not get rid of it. Some users will go a day
or
2 and not see the extra popup.
I am also stepping through the updates on the high school server - a few
ebery few days to see if I can isolate what sets this off. (My guess is
it
will be iPrint - but not sure why.)
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
