My Bad
Yes - it is Novell running on the SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 - with EDirectory
for Linux V8.8 SP5
As for the topology the computers are connecting into some older switches in
some cases, and then all back to a new Cisco switch that was installed by the
company that installed the security cameras. There does not seem to be on one
single switch that is causing the issue, it is building wide; but in the end
they ALL come back to the one switch that the server is connected to. We did
not seem to have this issue the first week of school (at least I was not
haering about it.) and after some updates on the server we started weeing this.
I think I have one box that had never had iPrint installed on it and as far as
I have been told it does NOT show this behavior.
I am really thinking it is something related to iPrint.

Charlie,
When you say Novell 10, are you talking about possible SUSE Linux 10?
Currently Novell Netware is at version 6.5 SP 8, if you went to the next
version
then you would need to convert everything to SUSE Linux 10 with Novell's OES
on top of that.
As for your problem with the extra Novell login pop-up, could it be a switch
or something going
bad in an area of the building? Since you mentioned it's like they lost
connection, maybe the
switch or hub in that area is acting up, and causing random network drops.
Since you mentioned that the username comes up with System in it, that is
something I've never seen before.
Does this happen at any certain time of day?
You might have your users keep a log for a week, and write down the times
when this happens. It might help you see
if there is something else going on.
Just some thoughts.

No Zenworks. A pretty simple network setup. One OU and since the buildings
are connected by a fiber optic they are in effect one LAN (Just a switch and
a fiber optic connecting them). Not even a router in the system other than
the ICN router for the internet. Just 2 Novell 10 servers with all the
users in one tree, one OU etc. We have been using IPCop for a long time,
and are in the process of going to LightSpeed. (Not sure if that has any
effect on it.) I also now have a 3rd party vendor working on my network to
do the LightSpeed install so he may have changed something he forgot to
mention.
I think I will but the bullet and do the iPrint update on my HS server and
see if that starts the issue at the high school. ALL the users might as
well be mad at me.
Thanks in advance!
