If you're talking about something complex or time consuming (like a
Migration), you might also look into paying by the job or a daily rate.

Geeks,
I'm trying to figure out what the average and range of pay organizations
(schools) pay consultants. I'm asked a few local schools and depending on
the service, I get a range from about $40 to $90 per hour. I'm looking at
perhaps someone who may be asked to come in and configure a Windows 2008
server with Active Directory, and skills like that. You can email me off
list if you want, I will not share the info if you don't want me too.
