This one is free and can be done via scripts pushing the data to SQL. Full
audits do take a bit of time though. We had it running as a logoff script, to
pull software info, but it was taking a bit too long. We now run it as a logoff
script only on teacher OUs. Provides us some nice data.

Subject: [tech-geeks] Inventory Software
I’m looking for some software to do technology inventory. What I envision is
something that would not only collect data from any Ethernet connected device,
but would also have the ability to input data for other items, i.e., projectors
(that are not network connected), Smart Boards, etc.
I’ve been looking at Lansweeper which is not terribly expensive (and has a free
version to get started). Any recommendations from the group for other things
you are using?
Thanks,
David
