Except that it has to be compiled for all platforms you wish to run it on. With the current solution, the products works on a compliant Java platform - period. I can download and run the same version regardless of wheather I'm on Windows, Linux or True64 etc. Regular users shouldn't have to compile their software (although most Unix people don't mind). As such, it is the responsibility of the author to compile to all these platforms if he/she/they want the software to be used on those platforms. WIth Java, you only need to compile to one platform and forget about it - it will even run on future platforms that don't exist at the time of compilation. -- / Peter Schuller, InfiDyne Technologies HB PGP userID: 0xE9758B7D or 'Peter Schuller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>' Key retrival: Send an E-Mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://www.scode.org _______________________________________________ freenet-tech mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.freenetproject.org/mailman/listinfo/tech
