Specifically, it's OpenSolaris, presumably at least in part so that they can use the in-kernel CIFS server that is not being back-ported to Solaris 10. Not only is there no normal shell access (though there is a CLI and scripting API), I was told that attempts to access the underlying OS directly would "void the warranty".
