Agreed. When some company does something nasty, or releases a bad product,
point it out. Let the fanboy followers know about the shortcomings. Take
those opinions, and extrapolate them to the extent that you feel problems in
Product A are indicative of problems in some other product that you're
considering. The products might be separate, but they're from the same
company, and often there is some degree of corporate culture that goes into
a product. It's normal, but times change, and different products within a
single company get developed by different developers at different points in
their careers, with different constraints, and the extrapolation and
prejudice are often taken further than the point of maximized benefit. Past
experiences and personal memories don't obsolete themselves as fast as
products do, so people too frequently allow their past experiences to cloud
their present opinions.

It's all about achieving a balance... If I've been burned by some bad thing
happening in some product, do I hate the product? Do I hate the whole
company? Do I hate the whole country that it came from? I've seen people
having each of those reactions...

If some company too egregiously does things that harm the interests of
users, pretty soon they'll have no users. Unless they make up for it in
some other way, or unless there's no clearly identifiable better
alternative.
