How many users are we talking about? What is the typical mailbox size? And what is the typical mail volume of each user? The last time I did this using imapsync (~20 users), there were a few gotchas: 1) You need each user's password. 2) imap transfer of large emails (~2-3MB) tend to time out before the transfer is completed. After timeouts, the mailboxes are not accessible through imap for a couple of hours. Workaround is to transfer smaller emails first, leaving larger emails for lower traffic periods. Add an infinite while loop + sleep 3600 in the script works too. 3) Depending on your mail traffic, you may have to set up a primary mail server to deliver emails to both Gmail and Exchange during the transition period. 4) IMAPsync works, but it is very slow. However, you can be certain the emails are transferred properly. 5) GMail relies heavily on tags, which Exchange does not really support (AFAIK). I had to strip out most of the tags before pushing the emails into Exchange. That is all I can remember offhand. If you really want my script(s), I can try to dig them out... -- Regards, Junhao http://www.jmarki.net/ _______________________________________________ Tech mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/tech This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
